Fashion Tips and Tricks for Petite Women

Who says only tall women can look great in fashion? If you are petite like me, you can look better in your clothes with just some fashion tips and tricks to make you look longer and leaner. It’s just about creating the illusion with more height and less bulk. This can be amazing when you discover this by yourself. Yeah, you can’t change your actual height but you can change the way people see you by changing the way you dress up.

Here are Fashion Tips and Tricks to make a Petite Woman look better:

Vertical Line Clothes

If you are short, vertical lines will draw the eyes of the person seeing you up and down rather than side to side. As a result, you will look leaner and longer. It doesn’t necessarily need to be stripe, you can use vertical seam lines, fashion details that appear vertical, or vertical panel of fabric. Simple vertical lines will do. You do not need to overdo it.

Straight Leg Pants

Straight leg jeans or trouser will create a vertical illusion on your legs. Avoid pants with cuffs, bulky pockets, or pleats. Cropped pants will make your legs look shorter too so you may as well avoid them. Choose jeans with dark color too because light colors like stonewashed blue denim will make you look bulky. The dark wash jeans will create and illusion of thinner legs which makes your legs looks longer too.

Say No to Minis

Miniskirts and mini dresses makes women with long and slender legs look great but I’m sorry to tell you they don’t have the same effect for petite women like us. The miniskirts’ hem when worn by petite women falls across the thickest part of the thigh which makes it very noticeable therefore makes the short legs look even shorter. Wear skirts just a little bit above the knee but not skirts to the length of your calves nether because it has the same effect of the cropped pants creating an illusion of shorter legs. It’s either above the knee or ankle level skirts/dresses.

V-Shaped Neckline

Wearing dresses, jackets, blouses with a v-shaped neckline will create an illusion that you have a longer neck which will make you look taller. So, this is a good aid in adding to the illusion of your height.

Narrow Belts

Match your outfit with a slim belt, this will accentuate your smallest part and will create an illusion of height that you want to achieve. Avoid the wide or contrasting belts because they will cut your figure in half and will break the vertical illusion.

Dress in One Color

Try to dress from top to bottom with one color if possible. Don’t use red tops, blue shorts, red tights, and blue shoes. This will just cut you into small pieces. You can match your black dress with black tights and black boots. This will create a vertical illusion from head to toe. It’s called monochromatic dressing. It presents one coherent visual image to the eyes of the people that sees you and it’s a vertical image…making you look taller. To avoid being in a dull color, you can tweak it by putting a colorful scarf next to your face.

Clothes that fit Well

If you wear clothes your size, it will make a difference. Lose garments will make you look you’re downing with your own clothes. Try to avoid clothes with lots of design because all the extra fabric makes you look heavier and shorter. If you wear a winter outfit, look for thin wools because this will look better on you.

Avoid Carrying Over Sized Bags

Big bags will overwhelm petite women. Choose medium size bags to be in proportion to you small frame.

Ever Dearest High Heels

Of course short women wants to add some inches to their actual height and high heel shoes is the temporary answer. Choose pumps and sling back sandals but avoid the ankle straps because the straps breaks the vertical line that you want. It will make you appear shorter.

Now that you know how to dress up taller, go on and experiment. Make yourself look better like the tall models out there. You can be fashionable as well. You can learn how to be a fashion designer to know more how to dress up the innovative way. Enjoy with your new petite fashion tips and tricks to appear leaner and longer! You don’t need to spend a lot of money to be fashionable, just know what’s good on you and you’re good to go.

Waking up Beautiful: Ways on How to do it

Usually you don’t want other people to see you when you wake up in the morning because this is the time when you think you’re not pleasing to the eyes. You haven’t fixed yourself yet. You’re afraid to let others see the ugly you before you start your day. You don’t have to worry anymore.

Here are My Simple Tips to make you wake up still Beautiful:

Sleep on a satin pillowcase to avoid bed-head. When you use a cotton pillowcase, your hair will be rubbed on the cotton pillowcase and it will create friction which creates frizz to the hair. By using a satin pillowcase, less friction is created. When you control the hair frizz, you will wake up with a smooth strand rather than a bird’s nest.

Prevent Puffiness
You don’t want baggy eyes when you wake up in the morning. This has something to do with your sleeping position. When you lie down flat on your back or with your tummy flat, your eyes can accumulate fluid around it. Look for a contour pillow to elevate your head a little bit and it supports your neck and back too. By doing this, excess fluid from the eyes can drain. And before you go to sleep, it is good to apply an eye cream with caffeine to prevent puffiness. This will constrict blood vessels around your eyes.

Dry Skin Combat
Hands dry a lot so it is wise to apply a moisturizing lotion rich in lactic acid and urea on your hands before going to sleep. This will hydrate and exfoliate your dry spots and makes you wake up with a smoother and softer skin. Don’t disregard your elbows, knees, and heels because they dry easier too. You can learn how to be a dermatologist to know more about skin care.

Fresh Face look
To lessen facial lines and wake up with a fresh face, apply a facial cream that contains a hyaluronic acid. This hydrates the skin and makes wrinkles less visible in the morning. This will make you wake up with a beautiful and glowing face.

Total Body Care
Enjoy the hot tub with spa music for at least 45 minutes before you go to sleep. This will relax your muscles and your mind. You are also exfoliating your skin because dead skin will be removed. Always make yourself warm. When people are cold, they tend to have ugly skin and it makes them look old. After your spa period, wear a sleeping outfit that makes you feel good. Have a good night sleep. This will give you a wonderful wake up tomorrow with a smile. And when you smile, that makes you beautiful and makes your day start right.

Now that you know how to wake up beautiful, I hope you will enjoy treating yourself good. Don’t take yourself for granted. You deserve some pampering. Love yourself! They said the real beauty of a woman is when she wakes up so show them what you got.

Embracing your Natural Curly Hair: How to make it look lively

My grandma, my mom, my dad, my aunts, my uncles, my brother, my sister, my cousin, and my other relatives have curly hair. Who made me think that I can escape from having curly hair? I even passed the curls to my daughter; she also have curly hair. Yes, we are a family with natural curls!  How about that?

Over the years, I did a lot of things to my curly hair. I used to hide my curls with a pony tail. I tried to cut it short then grew it long. I went to hair salons to have my hair straightened. It’s called “Hair rebonding”. They used a lot of chemicals and ironed it to make it flat and straight. Well, my hair looked good for a couple of months but after 4 or 5 months, the curly hair started to grow again. It looked funny because the roots are curly but the ends are straight. So, you’ll know that my original hair was curly. That was very upsetting because that hair treatment was very expensive but it only lasted for a short period of time. I got tired going to parlors to have my hair straightened. So, I let my natural curly hair to grow as is.

I experimented on a lot of things on my hair until I finally found how to take care of it. I just have to embrace these curls that I have. Saving money, time, and showing the real beauty of my curls can be one of my best careers in life especially now that I’m a mom. Being beautiful while saving doesn’t go together most of the time. But, I think I’m good with that.

Here are Some Tips for you to follow if you have a Curly Hair like me:

1.  Try to look for a shampoo that is sulfate free. Sodium Luareth Sulfate is compared to the dish washing detergent that you use for your plates to remove grease with a foaming effect. So if you shampoo your hair with sulfate, you are removing the natural oil of your scalp which makes your hair dry and frizzy. There are some organic shampoos to choose from, just check the ingredients. I use the Organix.

2.    Do not shampoo everyday but wash your hair with conditioner everyday to put moisture on it. Apply conditioner mostly on the hair ends. These are the parts where it gets dry and frizzy the most. Try to Shampoo every after 2 days.

3.    After you shower, do not rub your hair with a towel. This will give you split ends. Just squeeze the excess water, shake it, and pat it dry.

4.    Do not twist your hair with a towel like a turban, this will create friction and it will make your hair dry and frizzy.

5.    Do not blow dry your hair. Your hair will be dehydrated.

6.    In combing your hair, look for a comb with big teeth. It’s called a detangler comb. This is to avoid breaking the hair strands. Do not use a hair brush.

7.    After combing your hair, look for a leave in conditioning cream or an anti-frizz serum and put it on your hair while it’s still wet. Put more at the ends because it frizzes more on those part. Put a good amount on your entire hair and crunch the ends after wards to make big curls. Let it dry that way and you’re ready to go. I use the Garnier Fructis sleek and shine anti-frizz serum.

8.    Once a week, massage virgin coconut oil on your scalp, cover it with a shower cap, and leave it for at least 30 minutes. You should do this before you take a shower. This will help you bring back the natural oil of your scalp and will make your hair softer.

It will take you awhile to practice this before you’ll experience a great effect and bring back the natural oil of your hair. But once the natural curl gets enough moisture, you will see your curls will be more defined, bigger, healthier, and livelier. Love your hair and you’ll look more beautiful and fantastic. Let me know the effect after following my tips. Enjoy your curls!

Appreciating your Own Beauty: How to think and be Beautiful

Do you see yourself as a gorgeous woman? Do you feel sexy? Do you love looking at the mirror? If not, I guess you have a problem appreciating yourself. I am beautiful and that’s it!

When I was a young student, I used to be very shy. When it was time to fall in line at school for the flag ceremony, I was always in front because I am short. I would be very happy when I stay on the 2nd or 3rd row because to me that means I’m not the shortest. I was also irritated of my black and curly hair. I used to fight with my hair. I don’t know what to do with it and it seems like most people prefer straight hair than curly hair. I grew up sad having a curly hair. My tan skin also has been an issue. I always wanted to have a flawless, fair skin like the actresses and models that I see in the TV. And one thing more, I have an ugly flat nose. My family made fun of me growing up with this kind of nose. In short, I was ugly. I hated how I look and never had that self confidence that most people have. Yes, everything about me is negative.

But, that was a long time ago! Hey, I didn’t undergo any surgery or any kind of treatment to make myself look different. It all started when I started chatting online and people say I am beautiful. I said “I’m not” but then I looked at the mirror and said to myself “hey, yes you are beautiful!” It’s about acknowledging it yourself so other people will see it too. Love yourself and appreciate your natural beauty. You do not need those heavy make-ups, plastic surgery, and other crazy stuff. You’re just making those companies richer. You can’t buy beauty, you can only think beautiful. Believe that you are beautiful and positive energy will attract people to think and say you are beautiful. Beauty is a perception. It is a concept that varies from one mind to another. As they say, “beauty is in the eyes of the beholder”. You may say this is not true. So, I’ll give you some tips on how to start thinking beautiful.

When you wake up in the morning, smile. This will give you a beautiful start for the day. Every creature that is smiling is beautiful compared to a frowning one. Don’t you agree? Face the mirror and stop concentrating on your negative parts. Point at your body parts one by one and tell yourself something good about it. For example, if you have a curly hair, tell yourself: “This beautiful hair that I have is so sexy. I’ll stand out in the crowd with it”; or if you have thick lips, say: “I have kissable lips, no need for a lip enhancement!” Or if you are short, tell yourself: “This short woman is going to capture a big fish”. Remember the saying: “Precious gifts come from small packages”. Do it from head to toe. Focus on the good thoughts. Stop thinking that you have ugly parts because just being a human being is already beautiful. We are created with the image and likeness of God. So, when you tell yourself you’re ugly. You are saying God is ugly too. After saying good things to all your body parts, look at yourself again as a whole. Point at the mirror and say, “Yes, you are beautiful!” or “hey gorgeous, how are you today?” “What’s up sexy lady?” Do this everyday. Talk to the mirror…yourself. This sounds crazy but I am telling you it really works. After doing this each day, you will notice you are building self confidence and people around you will notice that. What you think about yourself is what people will see on you. Believe it! If you think you still need to enhance your self confidence to see your natural beauty, there are some distance learning programs to choose from. Because feeding the brain will boost your confidence.

Now, I feel so beautiful, I love myself, and I save money. I embrace my curls. Most women go to the parlor or buy curling irons to fix their hair and have beautiful curls. I have a beautiful hair! After I shower, just throw a small amount of moisturizer and I’m ready to go. Natural curl! And it’s sexy. I don’t worry about my skin color anymore. Most women go to tanning salons to change their color. I have a natural tan color! My height doesn’t bother me too because I am cuddly…so cute!  How about my nose? Well, that’s how it is at least I have a nose and I am breathing. Some people are having some disease on their nose and needs and operation. I’m lucky, I don’t need it. It’s about appreciating you…appreciating life.

Learning to love yourself is very important. It changes the way you view life and your relationships with people around you. It is not becoming egoistic. It’s embracing the beauty of nature. You are beautiful! If you won’t appreciate yourself, who will? Start it within yourself and others will follow. Let me know the effect after a month of doing this. I’m sure you’ll say I’m right. You are beautiful.
